Agora is an original strategy game set in the ancient Mediterranean. Two rival merchants race to amass 30 coins by producing goods, trading at the central Agora market, and expanding a network of trade posts and routes across a stylized sea map. Designed for short sessions on a single board.
Each turn has three phases. In the roll phase, roll 2d6 — hexes matching the total produce their resource for every adjacent trade post you own. In the trade phase, buy and sell goods at the central Agora, where prices move with supply and demand; you must have a trade route connected to the Agora to trade. In the build phase, build a trade post at a city (1 Grain + 1 Marble) or a trade route between cities (1 Oil + 1 Silk). A roll of 7 triggers a market crash, dropping the most expensive resource three price levels. First merchant to 30 coins wins.
Most games run 15–25 minutes on the single Mediterranean board.
Roll 2d6 to produce resources at trade posts next to matching hexes, then buy and sell those goods at the central Agora market. You must have a trade route connected to the Agora to trade, so expand your network as you go.
No — original design. The Mediterranean trade and dice-driven resource production draw on Catan, but the mechanics are independent.
Be the first merchant to reach 30 coins. Trade posts and trade routes each count as 2 coins toward your total at game end, so keep building while you trade.
