What is Board Gaming Hub?
Board Gaming Hub is a free collection of 32 browser games maintained by Michael Flynn, PE — a dam-safety and hydrology engineer who builds simulations with real formulas behind them. Every game is a single HTML file: open the page and play. No accounts, no installers, no tracking on gameplay screens.
The catalog mixes beloved classics (Chess, Go, Sudoku, Solitaire, Mahjong) with original strategy designs (Agora, Bisque, Aresia, Convergence) and engineering-grade simulations (Floodline, Bonneville Spillway Operator, Eclipse Predictor, Tower). Ads appear only on this catalog page — never during play — so sessions stay uninterrupted.
New here? Start with Wordform or Drift for a two-minute daily puzzle, explore the guides for strategy and science write-ups, or jump straight into Floodline if you want to see what engineer-built physics feels like in a game.
Classic Puzzles
The most-played puzzle games on the web — free, no signup, mobile-friendly.
This section collects the puzzles people actually return to: Klondike solitaire, Sudoku grids from easy through expert, Mahjong tile matching, Minesweeper, and 2048. Wordform and Drift are original daily word games — one hidden five-letter word per day on Wordform, one word-ladder chain on Drift — both designed for sharing results without spoilers. Every title runs in a single HTML file with no account, no install, and no ads on the gameplay screen itself.
Board Games
Turn-based strategy: ancient games, classic perfects, and original designs.
Alongside Chess, Go, Backgammon, Othello, and Mancala sit original strategy designs: Agora (Mediterranean trade), Aresia (Mars colonization), Bisque (naval area control), Convergence (rival civilizations), Odyssey (wine-dark sea voyages), and more. Ancient games Senet, Ur, and Pente Grammai are included because their rules are short but their decision trees are not. Each page includes how-to-play notes and strategy FAQs so you can learn the game without leaving the site.
Simulations
Real-time physics, engineering, and management sims.
The simulation catalog is what sets this hub apart from a generic game directory. Floodline models California flood defense with levees, pumps, and real storm hydrographs. Bonneville Spillway Operator balances grid demand, salmon passage, and total dissolved gas at a real dam. Eclipse Predictor renders solar eclipse paths on a 3D globe with sub-arcsecond ephemeris accuracy. Tower (SkyStack), Metropolis 2K, Apoapsis, Biosphere Blue, and Doctrine round out management, city-building, orbital mechanics, and geopolitical sims — all built by a practicing engineer who documents the real formulas behind each model.
